Hi! I'm Jess Wentling (she/her), a certified CAPPA Postpartum Doula working in the NYC area to provide the care and support that families need in the postpartum months. My practice melds theory and practicality - I am eager to help parents understand their new addition and battle google overwhelm, and also to help the family adjust to the physical changes a newborn brings. Whether it’s understanding the reason for a baby’s cry or rearranging a space to support new rhythms, I am eager to work with families to translate their vision for parenthood into reality. I aim to increase confidence, support your parenting journey, and allow you to be beautifully present during the postpartum months.
I have my Bachelor's in Public Health from Davidson College and a Master's in Educational Psychology from Hunter College. I have over a decade of experience working with parents and caring for children as a nanny and babysitter in a diverse array of circumstances, tailoring my support to the unique needs of each family. For five years I worked in public schools - first as an assistant kindergarten teacher in a G&T classroom and then as a special education manager at a charter school. I led the special education program which involved identifying students’ weaknesses through testing, creating teaching plans, training therapists and teachers, and finally monitoring and adjusting the plans as necessary. I have dedicated my educational and professional careers to understanding how to structure support systems that allow children to thrive. I believe that all families deserve a community of emotional and practical support and I'm excited to be bring this to my clients!
In addition to my CAPPA membership, I am also a Boober provider and mentee in the Manhattan Birth Mentorship Program.
